Our Discipleship Encounter is a ten-week program of on-site emersion for all levels of missions interest – from “curious to called”! After completing your encounter, our goal is that you will have extensive knowledge in the following areas:The entire 10 Week Discipleship Encounter only costs $3,000. This price includes all air, land, and sea transportation as well as all food and lodging. Often times these encounters are cheaper than even living in the states! How much do you spend a month on rent, gas, food, and all other costs of living? Also to date, everyone that has done a Discipleship Encounter has raised 100% of their costs through donations. After filling out your application and speaking with the home office, we set up a fundraising page for you online where you can invite people to support your Discipleship Encounter.

Long Term Staff

We love having full time staff join us. This year we have the Taylor family joining us in Helene. If you are interested in long-term missions anywhere in the world, we would love to talk to you. The best starting place is our Discipleship Encounter. A 10 week crash course on missions, were you learn cultural training and the basics of missions. Baptism

On November 11th, (11/11/11) Evan had the honor of baptizing two of the boys that he and April had been ministering to throughout the year. For the previous few weeks Evan and April had been talking to Pablo (pictured) and Gus (not pictured) about the reasons for baptism and had been asking the boys to pray to make sure it was a decision they wanted to make and that they would know what baptism is about and that they would be making a public proclamation of their faith.

Hopefully in the next few weeks the boys will be continuing their commitments at church and be a catalsyt for more boys to take this next step in owning their own faith.

Habitat for Helene

Local churches on Helene, in partnership with Mission Encounters International, are working together to make homes safe and liveable by offering repair and opportunity to be involved in each others lives. This is a simple and easy solution to the disrepair many homes are in. Families are helping families. You can enter into this awesome experience , too!

Mission Encounters International is helping supply funds for materials and monies for labor on this project. There are two ways to be involved:

1. Short Term Teams can come to MEI-Helene and work with locals on repairing homes, or 2. You/your church can send funds to have locals do all the repairs.

All projects are easily reachable by individuals or small groups of people, churches and business. The cost ranges from $850.00 to about $2,600, depending on the home and size of the family. We have posted the individual familes on this website. You will see a picute of each family, a brief bio, pictures of the homes, and the estimated cost of repairs. This is a great time and way to give. Please checkout each one of our familes and then just go to our online giving to make your donation (type “Habitat for Helene” in the comment box). If you prefer to make a commitment for your organization to collect funds and/or send a short-term team for this project, please email that information to emily@missionencounters.com.

Let’s make it happen for families in Helene! We believe it is significant that the churches are taking this role in providing for the islanders. We are praying God is glorified and made known as the work is being planned and completed. Habitat for Helene – Mission Encounters, Helene churches, and families in need – it’s a God-designed partnership with an opening ready for your participation!
