Serving on Mainland Honduras

imageServing Children in Honduras

"So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless." - 1 Corinthians 15:58

"We have the privilege of being on staff with Mission Encounters International while serving the people of Honduras on the mainland. We had a fresh encounter with God as our family completed the Discipleship Encounter training program on Helene, which prepared us well for the next transition in working with an orphanage and school over here on the mainland.

The orphanage we are partnering with houses 100+ children of various ages. We are privileged to partner with God as He transforms not only these precious orphans, but also our own hearts and lives. This organization (Worldwide Heart to Heart) began a Christian bilingual school a few years ago in Puerto Cortes for their kids, as well as for those in the surrounding communities. We are teaching there (Kris teaches fourth grade, and Carlene teaches second), and our two boys attend as well, with Alex in third grade and Jon in first grade. It has been a rare treat to enjoy the four of us interacting throughout the week, as we're all just a hallway away from each other!

We live in a small house on the orphanage's property, located in a small town about an hour away from the school. This affords us many opportunities outside of school to interact, engage, and serve the children who live here. We ride the bus with the kids each day, help with homework, play soccer, listen to their stories, share our own stories, and enjoy serving those who are so near to God's heart.

As we watch God impact this next generation, we are so humbled and blessed to have a part in His beautiful plan. His faithfulness has been seen by leading us to an amazing partnership here with MEI, raising up for us faithful supporters, and pouring out His lavish and amazing grace upon us each day. Praise Jesus!"
